Phnom Srang is a natural elevation characterized by laterite rock formations and sparse vegetation, primarily consisting of scrub brush and scattered trees. The summit offers a panoramic view of the surrounding plains. The rock surfaces exhibit signs of erosion and weathering.

Location & Access Logistics

Phnom Srang is situated approximately 15 kilometers west of the provincial capital. Access is via National Road 5, turning onto Provincial Road 12 for 8 kilometers, followed by a 2-kilometer unpaved track. Vehicle access to the base of the hill is possible for cars and motorcycles. No public transport services operate directly to the site. Parking is available on a cleared area at the base of the hill.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The geological origin of Phnom Srang is attributed to ancient sedimentary rock uplift and subsequent erosion. Historically, the site served as a strategic lookout point. Local folklore suggests it was a place of refuge during regional conflicts, though specific construction dates or builders are not documented.

Key Highlights & Activities

Ascending to the summit provides an elevated vantage point for observing the landscape. Exploration of the rock formations at the base is possible. Visitors can engage in birdwatching due to the presence of local avian species.

Best Time to Visit
